Exodus 14:1-31
Estimates suggest that more than
3 million people, plus livestock
and all their possessions left Egypt.
A few days later they were camped in an
unlikely spot. The Red Sea blocked the path.
There were mountains and deserts at
their two sides and behind them,
Pharaoh’s mighty army was in pursuit!
Pharaoh had regretted his decision to
let them go and was after
them to bring them back to Egypt.
The Israelites where no match for the
armies of Egypt and there did not appear
to be any way out! But God had led
them to this place and looks can be deceiving.
By the next day, the Israelites
were on the other side of the sea and
the Egyptian army was lying dead in the sea!
Sometimes we appear to be in an
impossible situation. Hold on and
trust God. In a little while, you
will look back and see things differently!
Prayer: Dear Lord, open our eyes that
we might see the many wonderful things
that you have in store for us.
Even if we can't clearly see all
the details, help us to know that You can
and are working for our good.
P.S. The story goes that a little boy
came home from Sunday School one day and
his mom asked him what he had learned.
He told her the story of the crossing of the Red Sea.
He said that as the enemy army approached
the Israelites, Moses got on his
walkie talkie and radioed for help.
He called in the Army and Navy
who quickly built a bridge across the sea.
The Israelites hurried across,
but the Egyptians followed them.
Then Moses radioed for the Air Force,
who flew over and dropped bombs
while the Egyptians were crossing.
That killed all of the enemy
and the Israelites were saved!
In amazement, his mother asked, “Is that
really what they told you in Sunday School?”
The little boy responded, “No, but you'd
never believe the story they told me!
